Gonorrhea Testing

When you visit one of our labs to get tested for Gonorrhea, the test type that we use is called a Dual Kinetic Assay (DKA). The DKA test requires a urine sample and is extremely accurate. Unlike the testing that some other providers offer you will not be subject to an uncomfortable swabbing procedure.

Will I Need A Blood Or Urine Sample?

The gonorrhea test requires a urine sample, not a blood sample. Upon arrival at the testing facility you will be directed to fill a cup in the bathroom with urine. This test includes no invasive swabs or scraping.

What Will The Results Show?

The results will state either "detected" or "not detected." If your results say "not detected," then you have not been infected with chlamydia or gonorrhea. If your results say "detected," that means that you had a positive result for the test and will be able to discuss treatment options with one of the physicians that we work with. You will not be charged anything extra to speak with a physician--that consultation is included with test.

Do I Need To Fast Before The Test?

There is no need to abstain from eating or drinking before the test.

Can Gonorrhea Be Cured?

Yes. Gonorrhea can be cured by taking antibiotics. The treatment that is prescribed to you will be based on your medical history and allergies.

Should I Get Tested For Gonorrhea?

If you have had an unprotected sexual encounter, you are at risk for gonorrhea and chlamydia. These diseases are often contracted simultaneously, although not always. It is possible to have one or the other or both of these infections. Patients often test for both of these infections at the same time because it is difficult to differentiate the symptoms and because people often contract these diseases together.

How Long Does A Gonorrhea Test Take?

Whether you get tested for chlamydia or gonorrhea separately or get tested for both of them at the same time, your test results are typically in two business days.

  • Checkout process was surprisingly easy and straightforward. I wasn't sure if this was going to work out, but there were a few test centers like 15 minutes from me, so that was pretty good. Update: When I got to the test center, I only had to wait a few minutes, and they made everything really easy. Thanks.
