I Have Raised Bumps On My Vagina But Haven't Had Sex For 8 Months

Question:

"I have two raised bumps near my vaginal opening but they are not itchy, or painful for almost a month now. I haven't had a sexual intercourse for 8 months! Any thoughts on what it could be?"

Response:

Vaginal bumps can appear for a variety of reasons, some of them caused by sexually transmitted diseases and others caused by non STD related conditions like dermatitis. The human papilloma virus (HPV) has variant strains that can cause female genital sores such as you are describing. Other causes include chancroid, syphilis, genital herpes and molluscum contagiosum. STDs can lay dormant for months or years without showing signs so it wouldn't be unusual for someone that hasn't had sex in a while to experience symptoms of an infection. You'll need to see a healthcare professional to determine whether or not your bumps are the symptom of a sexually transmitted disease. You can find a test center near you here.
