Unfortunately, there is no cure for hepatitis A. If you contract the virus, you could be ill for anywhere from a few weeks to as long as a few months. Although the virus must run its course, getting plenty of rest, staying hydrated, and eating nutritious meals is recommended to help you get over the virus as quickly as possible. Those that are older or that have an already compromised immune system may be at further risk of complications from a hepatitis A infection. Because hepatitis A is a liver disease, staying away from substances that can damage the liver, such as alcohol and drugs, is highly recommended to prevent further liver damage and complications.
